Gwyneth Paltrow has been a member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since the first film, Iron Manin 2008. She plays the character Pepper Potts, Tony Stark/Iron Man’s right hand, and eventually his wife.
It accompanies him until his final performance Avengers: Endgame (2019), where he sacrificed himself to save the world, and that was also his last appearance. Paltrow’s name did not appear in any of the cast of the upcoming event film Avengers: Judgment Daybut the actress recently hinted that a return could be on the horizon.
During a recent appearance at Paltrow’s son’s college, Brown University, she was asked to talk about her career and creativity, which she did, and when the conversation was opened to the public for a Q&A, someone asked if Paltrow might return to the MCU. She replied tersely, “I could be in another Marvel movie.”
I think this is a good indicator that we will see Pepper Potts again. It would be great to see her in the next Avengers movies, reunite with her Robert Downey Jr.but this time not as Tony Stark, but as the evil Doctor Doom.
It’s already been said that other returning characters in the film won’t recognize Downey as a variant of Tony Stark, but it would be especially strange to see Pepper evade that connection. We’ll just have to wait and see how it all turns out.
Avengers: Judgment Day will be released on December 18, 2026.
