Fans eager to see Henry Cavill Take the sword in the long -awaited restart of Highlander may have to wait longer. The actor suffered an injury during pre-production, causing rejecting the program of Amazon Mgm Studios shooting.
According to Deadline, Cavill was injured during training for the film. The details of the accident and its gravity were not revealed, but the setback forced the production to take a break.
So when we actually see the new Highlander? Directed by Chad Stahelskibetter known for the John Wick Franchise, the film has never had a release date. In 2023, the industrial chatter suggested a possible debut in 2026, but Stahelski himself later mentioned a release of 2027 or even 2028. Now, with late shooting, fans could be even longer waiting.
The film was originally expected to start this September, with the cameras that were launched shortly after. Instead, the production may not start until the beginning of 2026, significantly pushing the temporal sequence.
For fans, the delay will be frustrating, but it is precisely here that the production is found right now. The original Highlander (1986), directed by Russell MulcahyHe has become a cult classic with his mix of battles with sword, immortal warriors and narrative that range over time.
He recited Christopher Lambert AS Connor Macleod AND Sean Connery Like Ramirez, delivering one of the most memorable fantasy action films of the time.
While Amazon has not yet published an official synopsis for the version of Stahelski, the director shared: “The film is set in the current New York and Hong Kong, with Cavill playing a 500 -year sword master.”
The script, written by Michael FinchHe lined up an impressive cast together with Cavill, including Russell Crowe, Marisa Abela, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Dave BautistaAND Max Zhang. With the Stahelski action pedigree and a stacked ensemble, the project has all the ingredients for something epic once the cameras finally roll.
Until then, all fans can do is wait for updates to the recovery of Cavill and the new project program. I hope that when Highlander finally arrives, it will be worth waiting. Personaly, I’m enthusiastic about this movie! I think Stahelski and Cavill will offer something tough!
