26 years have passed since then Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace First successful theaters and actress Celia Imrie He is looking back to his small but memorable role of Bravo Five, the only female pilot by Starfighter in the film.
While the character didn’t have much time on the screen, Imrie left his mark, and apparently his lipstick attracted the director’s attention George Lucas.
Speaking with Bafta, Imrie revealed the story behind his daring choice while turning his scenes as a piloting cabin.
“My yellow plane was on a position. So I was a bit, you know, like those of exhibitions. I was shaken everywhere and I did a lot of diving in my glasses and everything, and it seemed very fierce and was told to me by George Lucas for wearing the lipstick. But since I was the only driver, I thought why not?”
Imrie played Dineé Ellberger, Call Sign Bravo Five, during the battle of Naboo, and his Starfighter in the end did not survive the past The ghost threat. As he explained, he obtained the part in a rather unexpected way.
“The casting director was sitting in the audience in the Matinee, he took a look in my night and thought ‘he would have made a wonderful star wors rider.'”
Despite piloted one of the elegant Naboo Starfighters in one of the most exciting sequences of the prequel, Imrie admitted to having a little idea of what was really happening in history.
“As a fighting pilot of Star Wars, I never knew who I shot, if I had won, or if I ever went back to earth on a plane or not. I had no idea what the plot was.
“I recently met my good leader in New York and we remembered how we had no idea what the plot was. But who cares? I was in Star Wars!”
While the fate of Bravo Five was left in the chaos of the battle, Imrie says that his involvement in the Galaxy very, very distant continues to surprise fans today.
“This is one of the most popular parts that I can ever talk about, especially in America, and especially with young gentlemen who cannot believe they are good Five in Star Wars.”
Imrie may not have known exactly who he was exploding from heaven, but his stellar driver from Starfighter with lipstick has sculpted his small piece of Star Wars history.
