David Tennant reveals that he wanted to be Mr. Fantastic in the MCU

David Tennant He has already left his mark on Marvel fans like the brilliant bad guy who controls Netflix’s Kilgrave mind Jessica JonesBut apparently, he dreamed of taking on a much more heroic role in the MCU. He had his eyes on one of Marvel’s most iconic characters.

During a panel at the Comic with MCM in London, Tennant was asked if he preferred to play heroes or bad. While reflecting on his Jessica Jones Run, Tennant said:

“I got the best. It worked quite well.”

His disturbing and unforgettable vision of Kilgrave is still one of the extraordinary performances of the MCU. But when it came to playing a good boy, Tennant had a very specific character in mind:

“In terms of superheroes, I had his eyes slightly on Reed Richards.”

Tennant once imagined himself as the elastic genius of the first Marvel family. Unfortunately, Marvel had other plans, casting The last of us AND The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal guide The Fantastic Four: First Steps As Mister Fantastic.

Tennant took the news with good humor and grace:

“If someone must be, I am very happy that it is Pedro Pascal, frankly. I would like to do enough to do all this. Even if it will take a while before there is another in progress, unfortunately.”

Tennant is just enthusiastic about seeing what Pascal does with the role, saying:

“It is a fantastic gentleman, in every sense of the word. I think Pedro Pascal is fantastic. I am very, very happy that it exists.”

The Fantastic Four: First Steps It will arrive in cinemas on July 25, 2025. And as regards David Tennant, never count a return to the MCU. The Multiverse, after all, are full of surprises.
