The second season of Arcane The fans shock and confused with his dramatic ending that apparently killed one of the most iconic characters in the series. But according to the co-creator of the show, that ending may not be as definitive as it appeared.
The fantastic animated series of Netflix based on League of Legends Returned in 2024 with a long second season. While it was full of action, a great story, emotional punches and expansions of traditions, the season ended with a moment that aroused the great fans’ debate.
In it, Jinx seems to sacrifice himself alongside Vander (Aka Warwick) in an explosion, leaving spectators torn between cracks and skepticism.
Jinx’s death scene takes place with her who makes a deliberate choice to fall next to Vander, making an explosion explode that apparently kills them both. Despite the desperate attempt to save her, Jinx does not hesitate.
But here is the thing … we never see his body and that mystery has fueled speculation for months, and now, Arcane co-creator Alex Yee He finally offered some clarifications.
As he spoke with Collider, Yee opened on the decision to end the story in that way and what it means for Jinx’s fate. His response is rather revealing.
“I think there is a cost. It is not a story in which everything works, you know? And I think the cost is something that would be heard and something that must be felt. So, I will say that this is why it is certainly not dead.”
The latter line will hit like a grenade with fans. “Isn’t it dead”? This is a clear declaration that rewrites how we should see that explosive ending.
However, until we see him in a potential Arcane Spin-off or continuation, nothing is placed in stone. In November 2024, Christian Linkethe other co-creator of ArcaneHe offered a much more cryptic version when the same question is asked:
“I still don’t want to talk to this. We only have two or three days after the release, so I’ll leave him there.”
That ambiguity left the door wide open, but Yee’s recent comment has almost kicked that door.
Whether it is alive or not, the emotional weight of the Jinx arch this season has hit hard, and if it is still there, you can bet that Riot and Netflix have more to say about his future.
Meanwhile, Arcane Fans can retain that glimmer of hope that Jinx’s story is not over yet.
