Vanessa Kirby It is opening about a moment eliminated by The Fantastic Four: First Steps This would have added a fun and angular layer to his character, his Storm.
In an interview with Variety, the actress shared the details on a scene with Paul Walter HauserThe Talpus man who never came in the final cut, which highlighted the raw power and the dangerous potential of the invisible woman of the MCU. Kirby explained:
“There was a line within a scene that is no longer inside with Mole Man – that I absolutely love. I am so enthusiastic that we could do more with him if we have to do more, because Paul [Walter Hauser] It is surprising.
“But in it, he said something like:” I could give you an aneurysm if I wanted in two seconds. “”
It is a direct nod to its classic Storm with comics, where often a thin line between moderation and lethal precision. Kirby further developed on this balance.
“In the comics, his use a lot that threat: ‘I could put a force field in your brain and give you an aneurysm. I could put an air bubble within you and kill you in an instant.
“These powers are also very lethal and really dangerous. But these four have chosen to combine the global community and be a force for good.”
“He made this decision, but at hand, it could be lethal. It seemed so real that someone who is trying to be a force for good also has the ability, as we all do, for light and darkness.”
In a separate interview, Kirby also shed light on another missing scene that took place in the basement, the underground domain of Mole Man. The scene would have appeared at the beginning of the film and would have offered a single window on the working life of Sue.
“I had a scene with Mole Man who made down [Subterranea] At the beginning of the film. His goes and a little kicks and drinks a drink with him. Well, he can’t because he is pregnant, but he pours the water and would like to be whiskey. I loved it. “
“It was so fun to turn. We went to the mines, to the north of England to shoot it and represented Sue’s working life and the fact that interacts with all these supercipes … and it is emotionally in tune with them.”
Although it is not uncommon that Marvel Studios leave main scenes and even whole underground on the floor of the cutting room, it is a pity that we have not been able to see this dynamic exchange playing. It seems that it would have added a darker and emotionally more complex side to sue Storm while expanding the presence of Mole Man in the MCU.
I hope we will see those eliminated scenes released on special Blu-ray features!
