Ryan Gosling He ran the hall h to comic-con 2025 while he thrilled his imminent science fiction epic Hail Mary project. The highly anticipated film is based on Andy WeirThe best -selling novel and took a look at several clips that showed humor, tension and yes, an alien named Rocky.
Gosling on the stage were the author on the stage Andy Weirscreenwriter Drew Goddardand directors Phil Lord AND Christopher Millerwith Joshua Horowitz moderating. The panel hit everything, from scientific accuracy to bizarre fixed experiences and, apparently, a lot of Vaseline has been involved.
Gosling said, noding to Weir.:
“I was sent the manuscript from the greatest scientific mind of our time. And it is sitting right next to me! No pressure. I knew it would be brilliant because it was Andy, but nothing could prepare for what he would devise this time.
“He showed me things I had never seen. He was as heartfelt as it was fun. I was not only swept away, but also overwhelmed. This story speaks of a frightened guy who was to do something impossible. Now I was a frightened guy who had to do something impossible. I called Andy, we became brothers of blood. Not really, but we would have done it.”
Gosling added:
“What do you do when you need to do something impossible? Ask Amy Pascal to produce with you. And try to get the only two visionary directors who could give him life with you – it is unfair to call them visionaries, they are more similar to wizards.”
The actor also shouted at some point in the panel: “We are not in Hall B, not in the hall C, in which room we are? What is the H? It is for Hail Mary!”
The story of the film follows Ryland Grace, a former science teacher who wakes up aboard a space vehicle without memory who is or why it is there. When his memory returns, Grace discovers his mission: he stops a mysterious substance that is making the sun move and prevent the earth from extending. Along the way, he finds an unexpected ally in an alien named Rocky.
We were therefore treated with four clips from the first act of the film. Here’s what has distinguished himself:
Clip one: The opening scene presents Gosling Ryland Grace Awakening from an induced coma, which struggles to respond “What is 2+2?” While Ai’s voice tests his healing. He cannot speak, he stumbles comically, strips on the floor and, as Gosling said, looks like “a spatial cave in a placenta member”. The sequence ends with a gloomy note when he finds another crew member who has not survived, and is wondering where he is.
CLIP Due: Grace meets Eva, played by Sandra HüllerIn a laboratory scene tense but hilarious. During the test of a Hazmat suit, Grace discovers a small alien cell that is alive … just to die a few moments later because he stabbed him with a needle.
Clip three: In this scene, Zero Gravity hits and Gosling emits a perfect cry and in panic. But the real shock arrives when it detects something unusual, leading to the first look of a ship that will lead him to meet the Alien Rocky.
Clip Four: First contact with Rocky. The alien, portrayed using the puppeteer for a tangible and realistic presence, communicates by building sculptures model of grace and his ship.
Gosling joked on Rocky during the panel, saying: “It’s too early to talk about Rocky. He’s my friend and it’s not here to talk alone, so I don’t want to give up his secrets”.
According to Lord and Miller, they worked with the puppeteers to make Rocky feel real, calling Gosling “the sixth puppeteer” for how he interacted with the creature.
The first trailer for Hail Mary project He beat 400 million global views in his first week making him the most watched trailer ever for an original film. The film also reads Milana VayNtrub AND Lionel Boyceand hits the theaters March 20, 2026.
While Gosling summarized it, this is not just a survival story, it is a story about a reluctant hero who are the same through the most unlikely friendship in the universe.
“What is so stimulating of him is that he reacts to many things as I feel that I could or many of us.
I am very excited to watch this movie, it looks like a fantastic and very funny science fiction movie!
