Stephen King’S The stand he is finally getting another blow on the big screen, and this time, Doug Liman He is taking the reins. Paramount images touched the Edge AND Bourne’s identity The director to direct an adaptation of length of the post-apocalyptic epic of King.
There is still no script, which means that we are still in the initial development territory. But according to reports, Paramount sees this project as a high priority and “is going forward aggressively to make it happen”.
It is not a trivial task considering the non -repealed version of the novel by King watches in a heavy 1.153 pages. Boil that temptular narrative in a single film will require a serious narrative triage.
I’m not sure they will be able to make it effectively and make an exceptional film. I don’t think that even a trilogy would work for this story! It is so large and so epic. The scope of history, jumping between dozens of characters and timing, has notoriously made it difficult to contain in a single format.
Originally published in 1978, The stand It remains one of King’s most ambitious works, a vast story of good against evil put in the background of a fatal pandemic that sweeps the most of the world’s population away.
The previous attempts to bring it to the big screen have fallen apart, with directors like Ben Affleck, Scott Cooper, David YatesAND Josh Boone All attached to various points before leaving.
While the book has been adapted for TV twice, first as ABC miniseries of 1994 and again as a limited series of 2020 for Paramount+, nobody has exceeded the code on a version of successful length of features.
This new film marks Liman’s first collaboration with Paramount. Lately, he has been busy in the streaming space with Apple TV+ The instigators and the video first Road house remake. He also has a working story with the manufacturer Tyler ThompsonAfter collaborating for the last time for 2017 American Madewho brought together with his Edge star Tom Cruise.
Liman will finally be the one to bring The stand On the big screen in a way that really works? We will have to wait and see how the adaptation takes shape.
