Cobra Kai He pulled out something that a few Legacy sequels manage to do, rekindle the heart of an beloved franchise and report almost all the main players from the original Karate Kid Movies.
But a character never returned to the Dojo … Julie Pierce, played by Swank Hilary In The next Karate Kid. Now, the creators of the show are opening up how that door was closed before it really opened.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Cobra Kai co-creator Josh Heald He explained that they had plans for Swank, but he never gathered.
“We contacted in the first days before the season to see if there was a path [for her to appear]. We had a vague idea of an idea of how it could enter this story and did not have to engage in 10 episodes or something.
“He would hear it could be an arch to one or two episodes, similar to what we did with Elisabeth Shue, where you can bring Ali back to a fundamental moment and influence an important relationship.”
The creative team did an excellent job by managing to bring the Legacy characters back to the feile. William Zabka AND Ralph Macchio They were a game from the beginning. Yuji Okumoto (Chozen), Sean Kanan (Mike Barnes) e Thomas Ian Griffith (Terry Silver) Everyone returned and obtained significant history arches. Elisabeth Shue I also came back for a key moment. So, of course, they thought that Swank could be ready for something similar.
But it wasn’t like that.
“On his side, he was very respectful, but we have never had the opportunity to sit and pour our heart as we generally do when we report the characters from the inheritance.
“It was only in a place where he was not trying to do it. He had had children. I think he was in production on something at that moment, and the idea of a meeting was also respectful.
“He didn’t want us to do it through the problem of flying towards her and putting his heart on the sleeve because it was not something that was ready to do at that moment.”
However, for creators, it is clearly a lost occasion. They had the “beginnings of a genesis of an idea” for Julie Pierce and they were anxious to see how it could have adapted to the greatest Miyagi-Verse. But they never had the opportunity to launch it.
For fans who retain hope, everything may not be lost. The creators are already developing Spin -Off and have suggested that it has remained more history to tell in the world that Mr. Miyagi has built. So who knows? Perhaps Julie’s moment could still come, but not in the way we expected.
