We are weeks after seeing what James Gunn he did with the Superman franchise in his opinion on classical history. He gave us many photos, made fun of and a couple of trailers to prepare us, but now he is giving us a little more context.
In a recent interview with Gunn and the stars of the film, the director told Entertainment Weekly a little on the world that Superman is set.
Gunn revealed that in this world, humanity has been informed in the existence of metumans (i.e. superpotent individuals) for 300 years and has compared them with celebrities.
“If I saw a shark man who walked on the street, you would probably vomit eg — yourself to death. If they saw one, it would be more similar to if I had seen Paul McCartney on the sidewalk of New York.”
It is a world that includes the Justice Gang, a super trio composed of Hawkgirl/Kendra Saunders (The last of us‘ Isabela Merced), Green Lantern/Guy Gardner (The debutant‘S Nathan Fillion) and Mister Terrific/Michael Holt (The more they fall‘S EDI Gathegi).
But they have become business. Maxwell Lord (played by Gunn’s brother, Sean Gunnof Guardians of the galaxy Film), the head of Lordtech and one of the multiple technological billionaires in this world, is their supporter. “They are good. They are not saints,” says Gunn of the team.
It is also a world that often has a problem with someone like Superman. It is practically omnipotent, so it is a challenge to stop it physically. The combination of his education in the rural city of Smallville and the dying desire of his Kryptonian parents to safeguard the humanized forms the ideals of Clark to improve civilization.
No company or government can contaminate them, which leads us to the reason why Lois is anxious to grill Superman. In the film, he decides to save the civilians captured in a conflict between Boravia and Jarhanpur (imaginary nations of DC Comics), which causes an international accident and earns the wrath of a White House that sees Superman as an American resource.
In this film, Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan) is also already aware of who his love is, Clark Kent. He knows his identity as superheroes and this makes him very vulnerable to her. Clark Kent actor David Corenswet Said of Clark’s feelings towards his protagonist:
“Lois knows everything about him, so he is in a very vulnerable position. He is madly in love with this woman and desperately wants that she understands and appreciates him and loves him.”
It is nice to have a new interpretation of this property and I have a lot of confidence in the type of movies and stories that James Gunn Fa. So I can’t wait to see how everything will go.
Superman He would like to fly in cinemas on 11 July.
