James Cameron He has been buried in the world of Pandora for years, but has announced what his next film project will be. The director behind Aliens, TitanicAND Avatar announced on Facebook that his next movie later Avatar: fire and ash will be an adaptation of The devils.
The devilHe is a brand new fantasy novel by the British author Joe AbercrombieAnd Cameron is producing and written the script with the same Abercrombie. The director said:
“I loved Joe’s writing for years, loving every new reading, during the epic cycle of the first bills, in particular the Best served cold (I love it!) And The Age of Madness Trilogy.
“But the freshness of the world and the characters of the devils have finally brought me from my butt to buy one of his books and collaborate with him to bring him to the screen.
“I can’t wait to dig in this while I wind on Avatar: Fire and Ash. It will be a new joyful challenge for me to create these indelible characters.”
Abercrombie built a faithful following in the Grimdark fantasy space. His first series of jurisprudence has redefined the genre with his morally compromised anti -heroes and acute and self -conscious writing. But, The devilsWhich has just hit the shelves last month via Tor, starts a new trilogy, one with a very different premise.
Set in a deformed version of our world, The Devils imagines a Europe that crawls with unspeakable monsters and under siege from elves who eat flesh. The story focuses on Brother Diaz, a tired priest of soldier in charge of assembling a team of men and monsters to combat the growing tide of horror.
Abercrombie seems equally enthusiastic about the team, saying:
“I can’t think of anyone better to bring this strange and wonderful monster of a book to the screen,” he said in a note.
This is not the only Abercrombie cinematographic adaptation in the works. Better served coldOne of his most loved autonomous novels is currently being developed as a film with Rebecca Ferguson Ready to play the mortal Monza Murcatto. That project is directed by Dead Pool’Sort Tim Miller And it is currently in pre-production.
Cameron, meanwhile, still has some stops left on Avatar train. Fire and ashThe third episode in its temptular science fiction epic is scheduled for December 19th. There are later two other sequels, with the provisional release dates in 2029 and 2031. But clearly, the director is already mapping his next creative obsession.
If The devils Lands with the scope and visual intensity that we associate with Cameron and, given the material of origin, this could be a new great chapter for both the director and the modern fantasy cinema.
The devils It is now available in print formats, ebooks and audiobooks.
