Michael Douglas It has officially hung on the laboratory coat. After playing Hank Pym in four Marvel films for almost a decade, the actor says he is moving away from the MCU.
In a recent interview with Deadline, Douglas clarified that his chapter of the film Marvel ended. When he was asked if he could return as Ance Ant-Man, he replied:
“I don’t think. I had the experience and I was thrilled to do it. I had never taken a photo of green screen before. I took the Kominsky method because I wanted to work with Chuck Lorre and try a comedy.
“But I’m enjoying my break and I’m enjoying my life. It was overwhelming the production company and reciting at the same time.”
Douglas appeared for the first time as Hank Pym in Ant-Man (2015), playing a mentor a Paul RuddScott Lang. He resumed the role in Ant-Man and Waspbriefly Avengers: endgame and more recently, Ant-Man and the Wasp: QuantuMania In 2023. His character brought an acute and irritable charm to the series.
But, with Quantumia Underperforming and the future of Ant-Man Uncertain solo series, Douglas seems happy to call it one day. At 80, he earned the right to choose his battles and focus on things that bring him joy out of the Marvel car.
However, his departure leaves some space. Paul Rudd it is confirmed to return Avengers: DoomsdayBut with Evangeline Lilly AND Kathryn NewtonFutures are still without notice, it is not clear how much of the family we sell again.
