There is a new voice that makes the tour that suggests that there could be a serious creative friction behind the scenes of the Marvel Studios, in particular when it comes to the long -awaited X-Men Restart.
According to Scooper @mainmiddleman (which is a newcomer in the world of Scoop), the president of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige and the Disney CEO Bob Iger It may not see eye-to-eye on the type of X-Men movie that MCU needs right now.
The alleged disagreement involves the tone and scope of the film. According to the statement, Feige wants the X-Men to return to a film rooted and led by the character who explores deeper themes. Something more in line with the roots of the franchise in the social comment and in the allegory of civil rights. The scooper shared the following:
“[Kevin] Feige wanted a story of X-Men more founded with a plot that really concentrated on social issues and disagreements on what it means to be a mutant. He wanted a powerful dramatic film that really showed what the X-Men were, with the brotherhood of mutants as bad. “
But according to what reports it does not align with what Iger and the best Ottoni of Disney are looking for. With a series of recent MCU MCCs undergoing such as Captain America: Brave New World AND Thunderbolts*The alleged push is for something bigger, stronger and less introspective. The Scooper continues:
“But that’s not what Iger and Disney want. Aware of the scarce performances of more detained films (in particular the results of the disappointing box office, such as [Captain America: Brave New World] and Thunderbolts recently) at the script was asked to concentrate [a] Great film for events to attract a wider public attention. “
So what does this mean for the film? If you believe this item, we are observing a change in the direction with something more show, more action, more “fans’ service” and less emphasis on ideological struggles.
“So, wait [the] The first X-Men film by MCU [to be] Enormous on events, focus [on] The box office, with more fans’ actions and services. Ideological issues will go on, but they will be less important than dealing with something bigger. “
Now, it is important to be clear: none of this has been confirmed by Marvel or Disney and the source is not one with a long -standing track record. Then, take it with a healthy dose of skepticism.
Having said that, given the recent corrections of the course of the study and its current need to rekindle the excitement of the public, the tension, real or it is said, would not be completely surprising.
One of the Rad flags about this item is that Iger praised the quality of Thunderbolts*Saying that it is the “first and best” example of Marvel’s example of his new cinematographic focus. He said:
“Over time we also learned that the quantity does not necessarily generate quality. Frankly, we have all admitted to ourselves that we have lost some attention by doing too much.
“Consolidating a little and having a Marvel concentration much more on their films, we believe it will translate into a better quality. I think the first and best example of this is Thunderbolts*.”
So, I’m not sure Iger has a problem with the direction that Marvel Studios is going. But I imagine that in the end we will find out!
Whatever the final version, fans undoubtedly hope Marvel you will find a way to balance the show with the soul that made the X-Men So compelling in the first place.
It seems that the film will be as direct Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier by a script written by Michael Lesslie.
