From the release of Star Wars Episodes 1-3 in the 90s and 2000, actor Ahmed Best He was quite open on the deep depression he had to face when his character Jar Jar Binks was incessantly derided and hated by Star Wars Fan community.
But something interesting has happened since those films were released, that it was that the children who saw the films, which Jar Jar Binks really liked, grew up and are giving him the love that he always hoped.
In an interview with the comic at Star Wars Celebration, he spoke better than the changing tides for the character and how the Star Wars creator George Lucas called him from the beginning. Best saying:
“Yes! I want to say, it’s quite incredible for me, but I think it is because all the children who loved Jar Jar are now adults and now They Having children, “he said.” So, Jar Jar was a lot of entry into the people in Star Wars universe and those people who grew up with a jar – this is theirs Star Warsjust like A new hope, empire, Jedi they were mine Star Wars.
“So, it is natural that there is this new Renaissance, and to be honest, George saw this coming. He was very futurist, so he knew that 20 years later it would go.”
Best agreed on the fact that the gradual acceptance by the jar fandom is similar to the response to Ewok. Those characters were despised by some spectators at the time, who felt too cute for the climatic battle of Return of the Jedi. However, they were loved by children who see them for the first time and, with hindsight, few people would say to be out of place.
“I love Ewok, I never learned that there was a problem with the Ewoks,” he admitted better. “But things are transformed.”
The best was 24 years old when he took the role of Jar Jar Binks, who was a great break for him. Later he would tell the interviewers that he felt he had put a lot of personality in the character, and when he began the recourse, he found difficult to complying it. He interpreted him as attacks on himself and revealed that during this period he even had suicide thoughts.
There is much more in the story of Jar Jar and the Star Wars Fandom, with also elements of racism to consider. However, Best was able to overcome him in part because of his new role as master Jedi Kelleran Beq, who appeared The Mandalorian Season 3. The best told us that he is still enthusiastic about taking the role and showing more than his martial arts skills in the process.
