Ecuador's National Electoral Council (CNE) has confirmed that the country's local elections and votes for members of the Citizen Participation and Social Control Council (CPCCS) will be held on Sunday, November 29, 2026.
The date was approved following a revision of the electoral calendar, which had originally set the vote for February 14, 2027. The change moves the elections forward by 77 days.
Voters will choose authorities for decentralized autonomous governments for the 2027-2031 term. Positions on the ballot will include provincial prefects and deputy prefects, mayors, urban and rural council members, rural parish board members, and CPCCS councillors.
Once vote counting and the official proclamation of results are complete, the newly elected authorities will be sworn in during May 2027, in line with deadlines set out in the constitution and electoral regulations.
