Finally, the Oscars recognize acrobatic work with a new catagory of the prize

It took more than a century, but the Oscars are finally adding a category of stuntman prizes to their prizes.

Acrobatics are probably one of the most electrifying, collaborative and physically demanding elements of moviemaking, they are finally getting their moment to the Oscars.

The Academy of Arts and Sciences of Cinema has announced that it will introduce an Award Award Award for the contract in Stunt Design, starting from the Centra Academy Awards in 2028, honor the films published in 2027.

There is a reason why this matters. The stunts do not happen in the void. They are designed, coordinated, tested, refined and performed in tight times and real risks. They tell a story as much as a performance, a modification or a piece of music.

That “collaborative” corner is the key. While other important prizes have recognized acrobatics ensemble (such as the SAG Awards since 2007), the Oscars are now raising the design behind chaos, highlighting the entire creative structure that gives life to life.

Over 100 stuntman professionals are already part of the Academy’s production and technology branch and with the recent creation of a casting category (starting from the ceremony next year), the Oscars finally seem to be slowly, but certainly, embracing the entire spectrum of cinema.

“We are allies of the Stuntman community and we do this film to try to let you enter as allies, as consumers and as attending films and people who participate in your own way in the cinema. There may be no films without the public and we need that you amplify the voice of these people too. It also wants to change to change.”

The details of how the new Oscar will be presented or voted have not yet been announced, but they will arrive with the rules of the hundredth prizes.

The people who fall, crash, jump, swing, guide and fight for our favorite cinematographic moments are finally obtaining the recognition they deserve.
