While cinemas continue to look for ways to rekindle the excitement and bring the public back to the cinema, AMC Entertainment has officially collaborated with CJ 4DPLEX, the creators of some of the most engaging tech cinema outside, to bring Screenx and 4DX to AMC locations in the United States for the first time.
You have probably already heard of these formats before, perhaps even lived in Regal, but this is the first time that AMC comes into action.
The launch begins this summer with 25 Screenx theaters and 40 4DX offices that launch through AMC and Odeon sites in the United States and Europe. If everything goes according to the plan, the complete expansion envelops by 2027.
For those who are not familiar, Screenx projects a film not only on the main screen, but also on the lateral walls of the Auditorium by offering spectators a visual experience of 270 degrees that makes you fall essentially in the middle of the action.
4DX takes it even further, adding seats on the synchronized movement and effects such as wind, water, perfume and even lightning. Basically, turn your movie into a themed ride.

CJ 4Dplex already has a strong presence abroad and with Regal in the United States, but this new partnership with AMC marks a serious expansion. Together, they will be added to a global imprint that already includes more than 1,200 Premium screens.

AMC’s first Screenx auditorium will open just in time for the summer success season. The first 4DX offices will follow in autumn. Each Screenx theater will include luxury armchairs, barco laser projection and advanced surrender audio. And with over 430 Screenx Auditorium and 780 4DX that already operate all over the world, it is clear that these formats are not only expedients: they draw mad.
The imminent titles that obtain the premium format treatment include A Minecraft movie, Sinners, Thunderbolts, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, Dancer, How to train your dragon, 28 years later, F1, Jurassic World Rebirth, SupermanAND The Fantastic Four: First Steps. So yes, these are not just filler films: Major’s studies are all.
With Cinemacon just around the corner and the industry branches great victories, AMC and CJ 4Dplex are criminal so well. Premium experiences continue to overload the box office and this new partnership could be a turning point.
