Werner Herzog He is entering the animation and is collaborating with his studies behind Run away AND The animatrix To make it happen.
The legendary German director behind Grizzly man AND Aguirre, the wrath of God He is bringing his best -selling novel The world of Twilight on the screen as animated functionality.
The film will tell the true and strange story of Hiroo Onada, a Japanese intelligence officer who refused to accept that the Second World War was over. For almost three decades, he resisted in the Filipino jungle, leading an individual war against an enemy that no longer existed.
Narrated by Herzog himself, the film was developed with animated studies specialized in an emotionally rich and visually ambitious narrative. Sun Creature Studio, the team behind the appointed Oscar Run away will guide the production from their study based in France.
Psych, the study based in the United States and in Germany known for its construction of the creative world, is also on board as a co -producer.
The script comes from Herzog, together with Michael Arias (Tekkonkinkreet, The animatrix) AND Luca Vitale. For Herzog, it was an unexpected evolution from one page to another.
“I always thought that the story of Hiroo Onada, having crossed almost 30 years of dreams of fever in the jungle, was more suitable for literature, not in the cinema, which is why I chose to tell it through a novel.”

“It was not until the Psyop producers approached me to the adaptation of the history of Onada in an animated film that I understood the potential that the animation had to tell this story in a truly compelling and imaginative way.”
Producer Andrew Linsk Of Psychop is enthusiastic about working with Herzog, calling him “a masterclass in the shaded narrative”.
“This particular story, due to the dreamlike and expressionist way in which it deals with the perception of the characters of the passage of time, is particularly suitable for animation,” he said, describing the screenplay as “unconventional”.
