The second day of cinemacon began with a bang. The Lionsgate presentation was one of the best I’ve ever seen at this agreement. Most of the Lionsgate years usually did not wait for the time due to John Wick And all that is in that world. This year, however, Lionsgate was oscillating for fences and did not disappoint.
One of the films I was looking forward to was The long walkThe cinematographic adaptation of Stephen Kings’ novel with the same name. If you haven’t read the book, I suggest you do it. It is the only book with which the rest of his books is compared.
Yes, it was written with its pseudonym Richard Bachman, but he is one of his best and most frightening. I often think of this book and I still put it among the first 10 books I have ever read. I loved it so much that I didn’t want to read it anymore. I live in the nostalgia of the first time to read it. Here is the synopsis:
“From the highly anticipated adaptation of the first novel by Maestro’s commander Stephen King, and Francis Lawrence, the visionary director of the films in franchising Hunger Games, arrives the long walk, an intense, chilling and emotional thriller that challenges the public to confront an obsessive question: how much could you go far?”
The long walk is a simple concept. The world is poor and the government controls everything. Once to 100 teenage boys, volunteers offer themselves to join a competition in which if you can walk, continuously at a rhythm of 3 miles per hour and survive all the other competitors who win the first prize to be ready for life.
In the book it was a supply of food for life, in the film it seems to be money they are looking for. In any case, it is not a walk in the park. What happens if you go below the speed limit? Die.
Now, at Cinemacon have shown us the trailer of the film and I was absolutely shocked. The trailer alone takes you to a place you weren’t ready so.
Do you question if it is worth a competition like this, to what extent are you willing to push you to literally be the last standing? I would describe more but I don’t want to ruin it. It must be seen with the eyes not contaminated.
The film is directed by Francis Lawrencewho brought us to the world of Panem in The Hunger Games. The long stars Cooper Hoffman, David Jonsson, Garrett Wareing, All nyuot, Charlie Plummer, Ben Wang, Roman Griffin Davis, Jordan Gonzalez, Josh Hamiltonwith Judy GreerAND Mark Hamill.
I know that many of these names do not mean so much for many of you, but trust me, they are the future of the film and this film will help to prove it. One of the most interesting things that Lawrence said in the presentation was “in other films like this the competitors are trying to lower each other, in this they are trying to get each other so that everyone can win”.
That’s why this story is so intense, you don’t want to see any of them get hurt, but we all know that there can only be a winner. Lawrence and the cast have a great task in front of them to capture the essence of the book. If they can, then this will be one of the most intense, heartbreaking and memorable films of the year.
The film will be released on September 12, 2025 and I will be at the opening evening of the theater to see it. Please let us know what you think.
