Sir Michael Caine praises the version of the deceased Heath Ledger on the Joker in The Dark Knight – “It’s a performance for the centuries”

Everyone knows that of all the different filming that we have seen in the superhero genre over the years, it was Heath LedgerJoker who went down as one of the best, if not the best performances of all time.

The Ledger tragically died six months before the release of the film, which continued to win an Oscar, posthumously. Has set a bar for the character, as well as other actors like that and his co-protagonist Michael Caine He paid tribute to both his performance and to him as a man in his recent memories book, “Do not look back, I sent”.

Caine wrote: “He was an adorable boy, very kind and without pretensions. I wondered how the Joker would play, especially because Jack Nicholson’s socket had been so iconic.

“Brillly, Heath accelerated the psychotic side of the character rather than going for a joke.

“As Alfred in Bruce says, ‘some men just want to look at the world burning.’ And this was the character of Heath of the character: the stuffed trick, strange hair, the strange voice.

Caine continued: “He and Christian [Bale] They were good friends and they always had fun together. And then he was transformed into this scheme monster, leading an entire city to Mayhem.

“Looking back, I think that Heath’s excellence made everyone raised our game. The psychological battle between Joker and Batman is completely compelling. Are they somehow the same? What does a man push good and the other to do evil? The Joker wants to torment Bruce convincing him that they are two of a guy.”

“The truth is that we all hoped that he would win an Oscar winner and we thought he should have, even if we were still shooting the film.

“So it was only a very sad thing that was not around to accept it in person. It is a performance for centuries, and even if her career has been interrupted so soon, it will be remembered as a great actor, I think.”

How kind tribute. It seems to consolidate the ideas that most fans had on the book Mastro from the interviews with the actor, as well as the things they said that his friends and collaborators have said of him over the years. “Don’t look back, now on the go” it’s on the shelves.
