As you know, Joe AND Anthony Russo they are back on the director’s chairs for Avengers: Doomsday AND Avengers: Secret Wars. This was an exciting news for many fans because these are the guys who gave us Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Civil war, Infinity WarAND EndgameSome of the best MCU films.
But after seeing what they have done since they left Marvel, especially with their most recent film, The electrical statusI’m pumping the brakes on excitement.
Their post-Endgame The record track is approximate. They made great oscillations with the films, but none of them has landed. Cherry? 37% on rotting tomatoes. Gray man? 47%. The electrical status? A brutal 18%.
And it’s not as if these guys have not given resources! These films had huge budgets, cast casts of stars and the freedom to tell all the stories they wanted. However, the results were … disappointing. Goffi script, bad direction and forgetable narrative have afflicted their work outside the MCU.
So, does this mean that their return to Marvel will be a disaster? Not necessarily. They know how to play in that Sandbox and Marvel’s collaborative approach has already worked clearly in their favor. But their recent track record shows that only because they are back, it does not mean that we have guaranteed another fantastic film like Endgame.
Safe, Doomsday AND Secret wars It will be full of shows, tons of Marvel characters, wild action and visually stunning beauty. But the real question is: can they go back and start telling great stories again?
The Russos have something to prove now and after The electrical statusI’m not sure they still have what you need. It is as if they had gone back with their cinematographic skills.
For now, I am having time for expectations. Marvel has a lot around these films and are paying a ridiculous amount of money to the filmmakers, but the Russos have the opportunity to show that they have still obtained it. I hope he can do it and two more incredible Marvel films make us.
