Jon Favreau who develops Oswald the series of lucky rabbits for Disney+

Jon Favreau Another project with Disney is developing that will found animation and live-action. After modeling the Star Wars Universe on Disney+ with The Mandalorian and renew the Disney classics like The jungle bookFavreau is now bringing Oswald the lucky rabbit in the spotlight.

Favreau is destined to write and produce the series centered on the classic character for Disney+.

Oswald an essential piece of the history of Disney origin. Created in 1927 by Walt Disney, the mischievous rabbit starred in 27 silent and early audio cartons, which show slapstick humor and inventive animation. Universal at the end took control of the character in 1928.

Forced to go on, Disney replied by creating Mickey Mouse, which has changed animation history. Decades later, reporting Oswald to Disney has become a personal mission for the CEO of the Disney Bob Iger, who obtained the rights in 2006.

Now, Favreau is the one that reports it in a new way. The character is described as an “impertinent and self-centered bunny” and Oswald will be the title of a hybrid series of live-action/animation animation under the creative direction of Favreau.

The news comes while Favreau is currently directing and producing the Star Wars movie,The Mandalorian and the Goguset up for the release in May 2026.

Oswald’s return has passed a long time and with Favreau at the helm, this series has the potential to reintroduce the character in a really fun, fresh and fresh way.
