“The only thing she has to deal with is her overbearing mother, the formidable 90-year-old Lenore Simmons Krackenberry, who is obsessed with her family lineage and Southern heritage.
“But when Sookie receives a series of mysterious letters that suggest she’s adopted, she’s sent down a rabbit hole of self-discovery, ultimately uncovering the swashbuckling story of Fritzi Jurdabralinski and her sisters, a daring group of women who ran the first All Girl Filling Station during World War II and eventually became the Air Force’s first female pilots.
McEntire said of this project: “I have always been a fan of Fannie Flagg and her writing, and it has been an honor to call her my friend for the past decade. I can’t wait to work with this incredible team to bring another of his special stories to life on the big screen.”
I’m a huge fan of Fannie Flagg and can’t wait to see another movie based on her writings. She really knows how to tell a compelling story with lovable, realistic characters that jump off the page. Stay tuned for updates on the project.
