Peacock has announced that they are developing a feature-length reboot of the fantasy crime drama, Grimmaired for six seasons on NBC from 2011 to 2017.
Josh Bermanthe creator of Lifetime’s Drop Dead Divais writing the Grimm film, of which he is executive producer together with the showrunners of the original series David Greenwalt AND Jim Koufas well as the original Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner EPs. Milliner’s Hazy Mills Productions and Universal Television are the studios behind the reboot.
The plot and cast of Grimm the film is kept under wraps, but the original series starred Davide Giuntoli as Portland homicide detective Nick Burkhardt, who discovers that he is a Grimm, a guardian sworn to protect the balance between humanity and the mythological creatures known as Wesen.
Over the course of the series, Nick faces a series of menacing adversaries with the help of his wolf-like Wesen friend Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) and his detective partner Hank Griffin (Russell Hornsby).
Completing the ensemble were Bitsie Tulloch, Sasha Roiz, Reggie Lee, Bree Turner AND Claire Coffee. Recurring cast members included Danny Bruno, Jacqueline Toboni, Maria Elisabetta Mastrantonio AND Damien Puckler.
This isn’t the first time the studio has played with relaunching Grimm. In 2018, NBC announced a spinoff of the series from writer and executive producer Melissa Glenn and much of the original creative team.
According to the network, the spinoff was expected to build “on the mythology of the original series” and “introduce fan favorites” and “new characters.” However, the series never made it through development.
