David Harbor teases live-action Frankenstein in the DCU: “It would be super fun”

Davide Porto entered the world of DC as Eric Frankenstein in the fantastic animated series Commando of creatures. While his portrayal is animated for now, Harbor is already entertaining the day he brings the despicable monster into live action.

Eric Frankenstein is one of the funniest characters in the Commando of creaturesand he is very different from the sympathetic monster that many associate with Mary Shelley’s creation.

Harbor gives the character a hint of humanity, but in the series he is best known for his unapologetically brash and antagonistic traits. These traits make the character both fascinating and detestable.

During an interview with Collider, Harbor addressed Eric Frankenstein moving into live action, a possibility to co-head DC Studios James Gunn hinted at the characters introduced in the DCU animated projects.

Harbor said: “I just say, ‘Go ahead.’ Put it out there!” Because I think it would be super fun.

While we don’t know when or where a live-action version of Eric Frankenstein will be shown, Harbor revealed that he and Gunn have discussed what bringing the character to live-action might entail.

“We talked about it casually. There’s nothing planned, but I talked to him a little bit about the reality of what it would look like in terms of CG or practical effects, and he had all kinds of different thoughts and ideas.

“I think they’re still building their universe, and that’s fun. As they build it, I think they’ll see what people like or what works, and that will be a component of what they move forward with.

For Harbour, the idea of Eric Frankenstein crossing paths with iconic DC heroes like Batman or Superman is exciting and fun. He said:

“It’s a really fun idea to have, for example, Batman going up against an angry Frankenstein, or Superman, or whatever! It’s just funny that all these characters exist in the same universe and who knows where they would end up? That would be pretty cool.

As the DCU takes shape under Gunn’s leadership, fans will be eager to see which characters make the leap from animation to live action.

Meanwhile, Harbor remains tight-lipped about his future in the MCU. When asked if he will reprise his role as the Red Guardian in Avengers: Judgment Daythe actor evaded the question, pretending not to hear it.
