LOVE ACTUALLY Director Says Editing Film Was a ‘Catastrophe’ and He Just Found Out People Think Andrew Lincoln’s Character Is a Stalker

Truly love is a heartwarming Christmas classic that offers viewers a mix of storylines about hope and love during the holidays. It has remained a fan favorite for many viewers, even if one or two scenes are a little more disturbing two decades later.

The director of the film, Richard Curtissays he was asked about the scene where Andrea LincolnMark’s character shows up at his best friend’s house to confess his unrequited love to his best friend’s wife (Keira Knightley) via a lovely cue scene from which it has been borrowed many times.

Curtis didn’t realize that over the years people had decided that this behavior wasn’t cool and he was asked about it in an interview. He explained to Indiewire:

“I think it’s a little strange. I mean, I remember being caught off guard about seven years ago, I was about to be interviewed by someone and they said, “Sure, we’re mostly interested in the stalker scene,” and I said, “What scene is that?” ?’ And then I was, like, educated in this.

“All I can say is that there were a lot of intelligent people involved in the film at the time and we didn’t think it was a stalker scene. But if it is interesting or funny for different reasons 1735333044 then, you know, God bless our progressive world.

There are many romantic gestures in popular films that haven’t held up over the years, but when you know better, you do better, right? I’m happy that despite the scene, fans continue to appreciate this film and what it offers.

Apparently it was a beast to make, as it tells many different stories and has an intersection everywhere. Richard Curtis spoke about editing the film, saying:

“The strange thing Truly love it’s that when we finished the film, it was a catastrophe. It took us six months to edit it again and learn all these lessons about how to make a multi-threaded story.

“When I wrote Truly loveand we did the reading, and it sounded great, I thought you’d probably do A, B, C, D, E, F, G. But actually when you work on multiple levels, the danger is that I don’t commit to any of the stories and the audience never feels involved.

“So you end up doing A, B, C, C, A, then you get into the story and then you introduce a surprise and then you finish one story before the others.”

It’s a complicated dance to make a film like this, but I think they pulled it off. Truly love is available to watch with an Amazon Prime subscription.
