Cinematic trailer and details on the GAME OF THRONES: KINGSROAD video game

The Game Awards 2024 were full of some interesting reveals and one of them was the cinematic trailer for the epic fantasy game Game of Thrones: Road of Kingsa new story-driven action-adventure RPG set in the world of Westeros.

Scheduled for release in 2025, this marks the first major release game of Thrones I’ve been playing for years and aims to deliver an immersive experience on mobile platforms.

The game was developed by Netmarble and Kingsroad promises to take players on a journey through iconic locations of the game of Thrones series.

“The game will feature breathtaking recreations of the Seven Kingdoms, from the opulence of King’s Landing to the frozen wastes of Castle Black,” the developer teased in a recent blog post.

The game’s plot expands on the HBO series, revisiting the events of seasons 4 and 5 of Game of Thrones. Fans can expect to meet familiar faces like Jon Snow and Cersei Lannister, the latter with her iconic long hair of the era.

The combat system is described as “dynamic, skill-based and manual”, offering a hands-on experience rather than automated mechanics.

While the trailer shown during the awards show was purely cinematic, Netmarble’s social media reveals snippets of gameplay, highlighting visceral combat with ax swings and precise dodges.

Despite its mobile-only version on Apple and Android devices, Kingsroad positions itself as a “successful” experience, aiming to raise the bar for mobile RPGs. It joins a growing list of games scheduled to launch in 2025, resulting in what promises to be a year full of surprises for gamers.
