Billy Bob Thornton recently revealed a couple of big roles that she turned down for some high-profile films. While a guest on The Playlist’s “Bingeworthy” podcast, the actor opened up about turning down the role of Green Goblin in Sam Raimi’S Spider-Man film and arms dealer Owen Davian Mission: Impossible III.
Thornton explained: “I don’t have much interest in these types of roles. With the Green Goblin I didn’t feel like getting up at 4 in the morning for five or six hours of makeup.
“And with Mission: Impossible IIII didn’t want to be the guy who tries to kill Tom Cruise. If you’re the bad guy in a big movie like that, the audience will remember it forever. I prefer to keep things looser and less predictable.
Yes, I don’t see Billy Bob Thornton taking on a role like this, but the characters he’s played over the years in movies and TV suited him perfectly.
That said, Thornton as the Green Goblin would have been really interesting, but eventually Willem Dafoe it was the only choice! With regard to Mission: Impossible III, Philip Seymour Hoffmann he was chosen to fight Cruise.
Would you have liked to see Thornton take on one of these roles?
