The HBO ones Dune: Prophecy will return for a second season. The news was announced Thursday during a virtual press conference with EP showrunner Alison Schapker and the stars Emily Watson AND Olivia Williams.
Dune: Prophecy follows the formation of the Bene Gesserit, an order of women who become the puppeteers of the great houses of the Empire in Dune.
Watson and Williams play two morally ambiguous sisters who run the de facto cult. In the films, Lady Jessica Atreides, played by Rebecca Fergusonhas ties to the Gesserit. His spiritual talents fostered with the order were passed down to his son, Paul Atreides, played by Timothee Chalamet.
In the show Travis Fimmel plays Desmond Hart, a rival of the two sisters, who possesses certain powers. In the finale there will certainly be a big revelation regarding the relationship between the sisters and Desmond.
“How the sisterhood survives is a big part of season two,” Schapker said during today’s press conference.
Dune: Prophecy takes place 10,000 years before the events of Villeneuve Dune movie, and is inspired by Brian Herbert AND Kevin J. Anderson written novel Sisterhood of Dune.
Legendary’s prequel series Denis Villeneuve-direct Dune the films will air their season one finale on Sunday.
