Two major events happened in the MCU to pave the way for the X-Men to come into the picture. First of all, we saw the arrival of the first mutant in our current timeline in the Beast in cameo The Wonderspost-credits scene.
Then we had an X-Men headliner Deadpool and Wolverinewhere we met a variant of Logan from a world where the X-Men had been killed. When we meet Logan in the film, he is wearing a normal suit of coat and trousers.
We then see him in the classic yellow superhero suit from the comics, and he even wears the mask that is synonymous with the character during the final fight scene.
So could we see more of these characters return to dress in their classic styles? Many fans assume this with the multiverse torn apart and two event films on the horizon.
An actor known for playing a past X-Men is James Marsdenwho played Cyclops/Scott Summers in three films. He was asked about the character’s possible Marvel future by Jake’s Takes while taking his most recent photo, Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
When asked what he thought Deadpool and Wolverine and whether he would be open to wearing Cyclops’ classic blue and yellow suit, he said:
“[Laughs] Well, first of all I loved that movie. I thought they nailed it and seeing Ryan and Hugh together was a real treat. Seeing Hugh in the full costume from the comics was also amazing.
“I’m not sure Scott begged him to wear the costume… I think in the first movie I say something like, ‘What would you prefer, yellow spandex?’ or something like that. That was a little sensationalistic of Wolverine.”
While Marsden seems to have been wrong Deadpool and WolverineWolverine’s variant with that of his X-Men movie, the actor didn’t dismiss the idea of joining the MCU and responded positively to the idea of donning that costume.
“It’s so nice to see these characters on screen again. I know there’s a lot of chatter out there. I don’t really know anything, but it was a great thing to be a part of and obviously, it’s always a fun thing to put on.” dress. We will see.”
We will see. There are so many possibilities for the next Avengers films, and some characters and plots will be expected, and many will be surprises. Although it’s fair to say that everyone would be pretty shocked if the mutants didn’t show up in a big way.
Avengers: Judgment Day will be released in May 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars expected arrival in May 2027.
