There’s a lot of excitement about Marvel Studios’ next series Daredevil: Born AgainAND Charlie Cox continued to create buzz by saying it will be “even darker” than the Netflix series.
I know some fans were worried that the series would be Disneyfied and that the creative team would have to give up on the character’s hardcoreness, but it doesn’t look like that will be the case.
During EW’s new preview of Daredevil: Born AgainCox said: “The thing we kept talking about was that this show was as successful as it was and appealed to a very specific demographic because it’s one of the few superhero shows that is so dark and sinister at times.
“Vincent and I both thought that if you lost it, you risk losing the identity of our show. So we really pushed for the show to stay geared towards an older audience and not dumbed down to capture a wider net of people. I think in some ways it’s even darker than a lot of the things we’ve done in the past.
According to the showrunner Dario ScardapaneMarvel’s approach Reckless it was initially going to be more of a legal procedural, focusing more on Matt Murdock’s work as a lawyer and how that life operated alongside his work as a vigilante.
But it was Cox and D’Onofrio who pushed to take the series towards something much more similar to what the show had been on Netflix.
Scardapane said: “It was conceived as more of a legal procedural, and we actually took it back towards an action-based New York crime story. The real trick was to have the DNA of the old Netflix show, but then push it forward into something very new.
On Marvel Television Daredevil: Born Again“Matt Murdock (Cox), a blind lawyer with high skills, is fighting for justice through his lively law firm, while former mob boss Wilson Fisk (Vincenzo D’Onofrio) pursues its political endeavors in New York. As their past identities begin to emerge, both men find themselves on an inevitable collision course.”
Cox previously spoke about the tone of the series, saying, “We’re continuing the darkness of the first series on Netflix. It’s going to be so dark and intense. We’ve worked hard to make it that way. So, we’re excited about it for that reason.
“For me, the biggest question I get asked is: will it be as dark as the original series? And the answer is a definitive yes. It’s dark. It’s crazy. We do some things that are definitely firsts for Disney+.”
Producer Brad Winderbaum he previously teased some of the series’ action, saying, “I’ll tell you, some of the most brutal action we’ve ever brought to the screen is coming Daredevil: Born Againwhich isn’t a horror show, but it actually packs a lot of power and there’s a lot of visceral action, to say the least.
He went on to tease how things have changed, saying, “These characters have matured, the universe is different than before. Things have changed, society has changed. Matt and Wilson have changed.
“And their characters will collide in ways we’ve never seen before. It’s no longer enough to try to kill each other. There is a whole political game at stake.”
Daredevil: Born Again is currently under development by the administrators Justin Benson AND Aaron Moorheadwho worked on both Knight of the Moon AND Loki.
The series is also the protagonist Charlie Cox as Daredevil, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher, e Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Marianna-Fisk.
It’s also in the cast Margherita Levieva, Michele Gandolfini, Genneya Walton, Arty Froushan, Jeremy Conteand more.
Daredevil: Born Again will arrive on Disney+ on March 4, 2025.
