Guy Pearce explains why he believes he was barred from working with Christopher Nolan for 20 years

Despite the overall success of the twice Oscar-nominated drama I remember (2000), its star, twice nominated for a Golden Globe Guy Pearcehe recently claimed that he has been denied roles in multiple roles Christopher Nolan-films directed after a Warner Bros. executive took issue with him.

Pearce recently explained to Vanity Fair:

“He’s talked to me about roles a few times over the years. The first Batman AND The prestige. But there was an executive at Warner Bros. who flat out told my agent, “I don’t understand Guy Pearce.” I’ll never catch Guy Pearce.

“I will never hire Guy Pearce.” So, in a way, that’s good to know. I mean, fair enough; there are some actors I don’t understand. But it meant I could never work with Chris.

Pearce surmised: “I think he just didn’t believe in me as an actor.” Despite being blocked by the executive, this didn’t stop Nolan from campaigning for the actor to appear in his subsequent projects.

“They took me to London to discuss the role of Liam Neeson Batmanand I think during my flight they decided that I wouldn’t be in the film. So I got there and Chris said, ‘Hey, do you want to see the Batmobile and have dinner?'”

With Nolan having left Warner Bros. in 2020 and currently working on a star-studded event film, Pearce joked: “So now it’s my time!”

Pearce added that he is working with Nolan I remember“It’s hard to compete with Chris Nolan. He has such a commanding intellect.

Written and directed by Nolan, I remember stars Pearce as Leonard, a man struggling with short-term memory loss as he tries to track down the man who raped and killed his wife. The film also starred Carrie-Anne Moss AND Joe Pantoliano.

Hopefully we’ll see Pearce and Nolan reunite now that they’re further away from Warner Bros.’ grip.
