Ex-Bond girl Gemma Artertonwhich appeared in How comfortingrecently weighed in on the concept of a woman taking on the role of James Bond.
He explained to the Times that “people would find it too scandalous. Sometimes you just need to respect tradition.” He then added: “Isn’t a female James Bond like Mary Poppins played by a man?”
Arterton played Strawberry Fields together Daniel Craig in the Bond film and went on to express his confusion about how the role has followed his career:
“I don’t regret making a Bond film, but I’m puzzled as to why it followed me everywhere. I was only in the movie for five minutes.”
Arterton recently starred alongside him Ian McKellen in the film The critic.
I don’t think we’ll ever see a woman take on the role of James Bond, but I don’t see why the producers couldn’t make a spin-off set in the same universe that follows a female spy.
What do you think of all this?
