Final destination: Stirpi is set to hit theaters May 16, 2025! The franchise is being resurrected with a sixth film and production recently began.
Zach Lipovsky AND Adam B. Stein (Strange) direct the film from a screenplay written by Lori Evans Taylor (Evil evil games) AND Guy Busick (Cry), with Jon Watts (Spider-Man: No Way Home) producing.
The cast includes Teo Briones (Chucky), Brec Bassinger (Stellar girl), Kaitlyn Santa Juana (The game of friendship), Richard Harmon (Serious encounters 2), Anna Lore, Owen Patrick Joyner, Maximum Lloyd-Jones (The Boba Fett book), Rya Kihlstedt (Obi Wan Kenobi), AND Tinpo Lee (The manor).
Late horror legend Tony Todd he should also return in the role of William Bludworth. The film is said to delve into “Bludworth’s backstory, including a flashback to his childhood that reveals more about his connection to death.”
Producer Craig Perry spoke about the film saying: “After long and hard work due to the pandemic and strikes, the first day is finally ready.
“2025 will mark the 25th anniversary of the release of the first installment of the franchise. Honoring the occasion with another worldwide theatrical release (in IMAX, no less) is a rare and wonderful thing.
“See you next year! PS: I know, I know – Pet Sematary: Bloodlines. But this is the title we’ve had for three years and we’re keeping it… for now.”
Franchise creator Jeffrey Reddick he previously offered an interesting preview last year, saying, “This movie dives into the movie in such a unique way that attacks it from a different angle, so you don’t feel like, ‘Oh, there’s a setup great and then there will be a wrinkle that can potentially save everything that you have to make a moral choice about or do to resolve.’ There is an expansion of the universe that I am very careful about.
“It kind of brings to light a deep layer of the story that, yeah, makes it really, really interesting.”
He added that they will change things up a lot as the story won’t involve the formula that the franchise beat to death in the first five films.
“I will say that it won’t just be another kind of ‘let’s create a group of people, they cheat death, and then only death gets them.’
“And there’s one feature that we’ve added to each movie to change it up a little bit: This is… a real Final Destination movie, but it doesn’t follow that kind of formula that we’ve established.”
