SCRUB returns to early development at ABC with the return of series creator Bill Lawrence

Bill Lawrence is officially developing a reboot of his beloved sitcom Scrub to ABC. The series creator is working on a new iteration of the series via 20th Television. The original series was produced by ABC Studios, which was recently absorbed by 20th TV as part of a restructuring undertaken by parent company Disney.

Lawrence remains under his overall deal with Warner Bros. Television, with that studio allowing Lawrence to work with his former studio partners Scrub.

According to Variety, Lawrence will not be the showrunner of the new film Scrub if the project went to series. There are currently no other deals in place and no cast members have been attached yet, although it is expected that some of the original stars will end up signing on.

Scrub originally aired on NBC for its first seven seasons from 2001 to 2008, followed by two seasons on ABC from 2009 to 2010.

The single-camera comedy took place at Sacred Heart Hospital and followed the interns, doctors, nurses and orderly in their daily lives at the hospital. The cast included Zach Braff, Donald Faison, Sarah Chalke, Judy Reyes, Ken Jenkins, John C McGinleyAND Neil Flynn.

I can’t wait to see Scrub return. Will you watch the rebooted series?
