Tim Burton AND Johnny Depp they have made a great team over the years working together on films like Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, The Corpse Bride, Sweeney Todd, Charlie and the Chocolate FactoryAND Alice in Wonderland.
It’s been a long time since the two collaborated on something, more than a decade since they worked together Dark shadows. But Burton is confident that he and Depp will one day reunite for a project.
During an interview with IndieWire, Burton was asked if he would work with Deep again and he said: “Well, I’m sure there will be.
“I never thought, ‘Oh, I’ll use this or that actor.’ It usually has to be based on the project I’m working on. This is the movie. It’s collaboration and exchanging ideas with the people around you.”
So when it happens, it will have to be the right project for Depp, and it won’t be a sequel to any of the previous projects they worked on together, so that’s fine.
Depp’s career faced some major challenges following his long legal battle with Amber Heard, which he ultimately won. But the damage was done.
Although Depp has starred in films, none of them have been mainstream. If anyone could help get Burton’s career back on track, it would be Burton.
Burton is currently preparing to direct a remake of Aattack of the 50 foot woman from a screenplay by Gillian Flynn. Depp will be the protagonist Day drinker with Penélope Cruz and director Marc Webb.
