A photo from the set of I Know What You Did Last Summer teases the killer’s return

An official photo from the set of I know what you did last summer the sequel/reboot has been released and teases the return of the killer fisherman wielding his sinister hook.

Freddie Prinze Jr. returns to the franchise along with Jennifer Love Hewitt, and they are united by Chase the wonders of Sui, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers AND Jonah Haur-King.

Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Vendetta) will direct the film for Sony Pictures Leah McKendrick (MAE.) write the screenplay.

The film is described as a legacy sequel, and McKendrick previously spoke about the project, saying he will update it, but also deliver the tried-and-true formula of “interesting people doing questionable things.”

McKendrick explained: “I mean, it’s interesting people who do questionable things, right? Basically, I think it really deals with some big ideas about hero and villain, right and wrong, how your skeletons come back to haunt you.

“And in the age of the internet and where fame is such a revered concept, the creation of TikTok and social media, who is Julie James in a world where there are no more secrets?”

He went on to add, “Obviously I watched it 8 million times while I was working on it, but it’s fun. It’s just a popcorn, wild ride. Sometimes it’s campy, Jennifer Love Hewitt is so sexy, Freddie Prinze Jr. is so sexy. Sarah Michelle [Gellar], Ryan [Phillippe]they are so wonderful. It’s like nice people behave badly. You can never have enough. There’s a lot of that in this film.”

The original film came from the director Jim Gillespie and writer Kevin Williamson (Cry) and is based on Lois Duncan’s novel.

In the film, “Four young friends bonded by a tragic accident are reunited when they find themselves stalked by a hook-wielding maniac in their small seaside town.”

The new film that will be released next summer, on July 18, 2025.
