Short teaser of the SPIDER-MAN YOUR FRIEND NEIGHBORHOOD animated series

Marvel has released a short teaser for its upcoming animated series Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

The footage begins by showing Spider-Man’s float at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, celebrating his and Marvel’s roots in New York, the home of Marvel and its 85 years of comic book history.

It then cuts to Spider-Man footage from the series while it’s live streaming. We also hear a bit of the classic 60’s theme song but with a modern twist.

The full trailer hasn’t been released yet, so this is the first footage officially released. The animation of the series is inspired by the Steve Ditko comic book style and the series is set before 2016 Captain America: Civil Warbut with one notable fundamental difference.

“Rather than going back to his house to see Tony Stark at his house, it’s none other than Norman Osborn chatting with his Aunt May when he walks in the door.

“And just as meeting Tony brought Peter into the spotlight more than the boy needed, Peter having Norman as his mentor sends his life on an unexpected trajectory that pits him against many unexpected characters in the Marvel Universe .”

Jeff Trammell is the head writer of the series and shared some insights into what fans can expect from the series.

“You know, I want to give you a cliché, ‘Expect the unexpected’ answer but, honestly, I think you can expect your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. He’s hanging around New York; it’s not some big intergalactic adventure.”

“It’s him at his roots and there’s a lot of things that we, as fans, pick up on at first glance and think, ‘Oh yeah, I know this part of the story.’ It’s been really fun to delve into that: ‘Maybe you don’t know everything.’ There are some surprises in there and I’m really excited to delve into them. It’s been really fun to subvert those expectations when they’ve been built for so long,” Tramell added.

Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man will debut on Disney+ on January 29, 2025.
