Miley Cyrus he was a big fan of the director Panos Cosmatos’crazy horror thriller, Mandywho wanted to adapt it into a musical and perform it Nicolas Cagehis character in it.
During an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, he said: “I wanted to play Nicolas Cage. I love that it’s a story of love and revenge. Romance and revenge: these are some of the greatest tragedies. I will forever be interested in those.
Cyrus said he actually approached Cosmatos about adapting the film into a musical, but things never worked out. Regardless, Cosmatos is now involved in her upcoming album, Something Beautiful.
He describes his new album as highly visual and says it was inspired by Pink Floyd’s The Wall. He said: “It was inspired by Pink Floyd’s The Wall. We really leaned into it. And so I have this heartfelt attachment to it.
“My idea was to make The Wall, but with a better wardrobe, more glamorous and full of pop culture.” Cosmato added: “[The album is] more experimental than anything I’ve ever done, but in a pop way that I love.
Cage played Red Miller in Mandy. In the film “Pacific Northwest. 1983 AD Outsiders Red Miller and Mandy Bloom lead a loving, peaceful existence. When their pine-scented retreat is savagely destroyed by a cult led by the sadistic Jeremiah Sand, Red is catapulted into a phantasmagorical journey filled with bloody, fire-soaked revenge.
While a Mandy musical isn’t in the cards right now, it all led to a creative partnership between Cyrus and Cosmatos.
