Some fun news has been released for fans of the original Clothes series. Gabriele Machtwho played the brash and suave super-lawyer Harvey Specter in the original series, will reprise his role in the upcoming series, Dresses: LA over a span of three episodes.
From Dresses: LA was announced a year ago in the wake of the original series’ streaming revival on Netflix, there has been talk of members of the original cast appearing in the sequel. NBC executives have hinted at this possibility, with most Clothes alumni saying publicly that they would do it if Aaron Korshcreator of both the original and the spin-off, called them.
Harvey Specter and the main character in Dresses: LATed Black (Stefano Amell), share the same background, as both were former New York prosecutors. In a short teaser video on Instagram (you can watch it below), she referenced Harvey helping “an old friend in need.”
Macht’s period is a guest story arc and is not a precursor to his potential membership Suitable for Los Angeles full time. Adopting him for the spin-off is a huge success as it marks Macht’s first return to the screen since then Clothes. After his nine-season run on the American series ended in 2019, he took a break from acting while he moved his family to the UK.
We last saw Harvey Specter in Clothes series finale, he left his career as a corporate lawyer and, along with his wife/executive Donna, moved to Seattle to join Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams) legal clinic.
Dresses: LA centers on Ted Black (Amell), a former New York federal prosecutor who reinvented himself by representing Los Angeles’ most powerful clients. His company is at a crisis point, and to survive, he must embrace a role he has despised his entire career.
“Ted is surrounded by a group of characters who test their loyalty to both Ted and each other and can’t help but mix their personal and professional lives. All of this happens as the show slowly unravels the events that years ago led Ted to leave everything and everyone he loved behind to start all over again. Protagonists alongside Amell are Lex Scott Davis, Josh McDermitt AND Bryan Greenberg.
I loved the original series and Gabriel Macht was great! It will be fun to see his character return (hopefully with Donna!), and see how the next chapter plays out Clothes the universe unfolds. Dresses: LA will premiere on February 23.
