Taron Egerton (Rocketman) will be the protagonist next Charlize Theron in the upcoming Netflix thriller Apexwhich will be directed by Baltasar Kormákur (Everest, adrift).
The film is described as Free only meet The Silence of the Lambs and follows a climber who finds himself hunted in nature. This sounds like it could be a great, suspenseful movie.
Jeremy Robbins wrote the screenplay, and it is explained that the development of this film is a “rare case in the current state of the industry, as many studios are looking for a flashy package full of talent before coming on board.”
In case of Apex: “Netflix executives were so blown away by the script that they bought it with only the producers involved. When it came to an actor and director, Theron and Kormakur were their first choices and in another rare case they both committed after reading the script.

I’m excited to see how it turns out. It’s a shame we won’t be able to see it on the big screen.
