Sony Pictures has released a new featurette for Kraven the Hunter titled “Making a Villain” which offers a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film and some insights into bringing this Marvel villain to life on the big screen.
The preview offers some gory new footage from the film, and also makes sure to drive home the fact Kraven the Hunter it is a “self-contained” story. It was also revealed that the film was advertised as a gangster story.
Kraven the Hunter is the visceral story of how and why one of Marvel’s most iconic villains came to be. Set before his infamous revenge with Spider-Man, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson plays Kraven.
In Kraven the Hunter, Russian immigrant Sergei Kravinoff is on a mission to prove himself as the world’s greatest hunter. Taylor-Johnson called the project “a Marvel film strongly anchored in the real world. We know he is a ferocious hunter, a highly trained killer.” He enthusiastically proclaimed, “Fuck yes, it will be rated R!”
As with most of Sony’s Marvel films, I don’t expect much from the film. I’m going in with very low expectations, but maybe it will be better than I think.
JC Chandor he is directing the film from a screenplay by Art Marco AND Matt Holloway (Iron Man), and is also the protagonist Ariana De Bose like Calypso, Russell Crowe as Nikolai Kravinoff, Fred Hechinger in the role of Chameleon, Alessandro Nivola like a bad stranger, Levi Miller, AND Capture-22 star Christopher Abbott as the main villain, The Foreigner.
Kraven the Hunter film in theaters nationwide on December 13, 2024.
