Earlier this week, fans were wowed by the hilarious first trailer for Mission: Impossible: The Final Showdownthe final film in Tom Cruise’S Mission: impossible film franchise.

With this franchise alone, Cruise left an incredible legacy for himself and as a filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie pushed the boundaries of stunts with each installment and Cruise undertook some of the biggest stunts in the film industry.

Once fans saw the trailer and were certain that this would be Cruise’s final sequel, some speculated as much Glen Powell he could be the perfect actor to step into the role and fill Cruise’s shoes.

The pair had worked together before Top Gun: nonconformistand Powell has openly expressed his admiration for Cruise and his career. But it looks like we can resolve this rumor now, as Powell isn’t looking to become the next Ethan Hunt, or at least his mother wouldn’t be happy with the decision.

There are no plans for Powell to join or replace Cruise in the Mission: impossible franchise, but they have a lot of work to do next Top Gun 3. Powell recently joked that while the stars and studio have slowed down the hype around the project, it does have a start date. He wouldn’t reveal what it was about, but it seems to be going on pretty steadily.
