Kevin Feige offers a positive update on Marvel’s BLADE movie

Marvel Studios takes a long time to get this Lama film off the ground and in production. The studio recently removed the film from its release schedule, and it has seen several directors and screenwriters, the latest of which was Yann Demangewho left the project several months ago.

We hear that Marvel is still on track to make the film next year and that they are looking for a new director. It is said that Jeymes Samuel (The harder they fall ) “impressed the higher-ups at Marvel.”

During the D23 Brazil, Kevin Feige was asked for an update on the project and his response was positive. He told Omelete: “We are busy with Blade. We love the character, we love Mahershala’s version of him… I can say the character will reach the #MCU.”

So it’s nice to know that Marvel is still planning on making the movie and stuff Mahershala Ali he’s still involved. We have no idea when this will happen.

The last draft of the screenplay was by Eric Pearsonwho is the sixth writer to have been asked to work on the project. Previous writers include Michele Verde, Stacy Osei-Kuffour, Michael Starbury, Beau De Mayo AND Nic Pizzolatto.

Feige previously spoke about the project, saying: “Over the last few years, as we’ve been trying to get that movie made, the most important thing for us is not to rush it. And making sure we get the Blade movie right.

“There have been some great ones Lama movies years ago… they were all rated R. So I think it’s intrinsic, like Deadpool, inherent to Blade’s character.

As for why the film took so long to develop, Feige compared the delays to this Deadpool and Wolverinesaying they’re just waiting for “the magic thing to fall into place.”

He said: “It’s part of the process. And when you have a famous character like Blade and a famous actor like Mahershala, everything that happens gets a lot of attention.

“I’m sure you’ve heard us talk about how we were struggling to find the perfect reason for Deadpool to exist, for the third Deadpool movie in the MCU, and then Hugh Jackman called, and everything fell into place.

“Sometimes you need that magical thing to fall into place. And sometimes it happens, sometimes it takes a day. Sometimes it takes two years. Sometimes it takes 10 years. But that’s what you should really wait for, until you accomplish something.

Ali’s last update on the project was: “We are working on it. That’s the best I can tell you. I’m really encouraged by the direction of the project. I think we will return to this topic relatively soon.”

“I’m genuinely encouraged as far as the situation and who’s on board and who’s leading the way as far as script writing and directing and everything else. So that’s all I can tell you.

When this movie gets made, I hope it’s great and worth the wait.
