The director’s first reactions Roberto Eggers’S Nosferatu its social media and those critics who managed to get an early screening because they loved what the film offered!
As a fan of Egger’s work, this is a film that I was very excited to watch and it’s nice to know that the film might actually live up to high expectations.
The film is described as gory, disturbing, disturbing, grotesque, stunning, gorgeous and captivating, with one critic saying that “this year will be harder than any other horror film”. One person said they cried during the last 15 minutes of the film.
You can check out the critical reactions below and let us know what you think!
Robert Eggers’ #Nosferatu It’s a knockout. Bloody, disturbing, propulsive, with a hint of devilish humor. Lily-Rose Depp is fantastic as the woman at the center of everything, while Bill Skarsgard’s vampire is completely unique and down to earth. Not my favorite Eggers but still excellent. pic.twitter.com/wNmeSARF4r

#Nosferatu it’s a paralyzing fear fully realized under the vision of writer and director Robert Eggers. The guy is clearing his throat in the cinema. He hasn’t started singing yet and I’m digging all his songs. Bill Skarsgård is menacing while Lily-Rose Depp is disturbing. Everything is fine… pic.twitter.com/z5agFPsISc

Nosferatu showcases the visionary creativity of Robert Eggers. Lily Rose Depp is gorgeous. Willem Dafoe is having a lot of fun. An important player below the line. Could it cause blood pressure to drop? Hmmmm. Rose Depp has a chance to join a race full of supporting actresses. #Oscars 1

#Nosferatu incorporates breathtaking homages to Murnau’s masterpiece with thoughtful thematic art. Robin Carolan’s haunting compositions, Jarin Blaschke’s painterly cinematography, and Craig Lathrop’s inspired production design add to its atmospheric, frightening appeal. 2/2 pic.twitter.com/1hHzPcAgrD

Our @jimmytotheo he says @Nosferatu is an extraordinary work of gothic horror. Great performances all around, however Lily-Rose Depp is simply luminous and Bill Skarsgard brings terror to the screen by wrapping it all in a layered character. Gorgeous and captivating, Robert Eggers… pic.twitter.com/UVdDj8fkmJ

After a few months I can finally share that I loved NOSFERATU. It further crystallizes Eggers’ exploration of evil as an elemental force, as inherent to existence as desire, emerging from the very divinity of kindness. It is so inextricable for us, fighting it requires great sacrifice. pic.twitter.com/Im4WkEJUZY

No joke, I was in tears for the last 15 minutes of this movie; It hit me so hard. I’ve loved everything by Robert Eggers so far, but #Nosferatu it is his magnum opus. This immediately imprinted itself on my heart and soul. I loved it so damn much. pic.twitter.com/cPvRobOCWu

Robert Eggers digs deep into the native soil beneath Nosferatu and Dracula, finding the gruesome (yet perversely seductive) core of the creature’s appeal. It also turns THE story of vampires into a Jungian tragedy and one of the most achingly beautiful films of this year. pic.twitter.com/mUooFkrOwn

The film is a reimagining of the terrifying 1920s classic, telling the story of the sinister vampire Count Orlok, played by Bill Skarsgard in the movie. We actually get to see a bit more of the creature in this recent trailer.
Nosferatu tells the dark and twisted story of a tormented young woman’s obsession (Lily Rose Depp) in 19th century Germany and the ancient Transylvanian vampire who haunts her, bringing with him unspeakable horror.
Speaking previously about the film, Eggers said: “It’s a scary movie. It’s a horror movie. It’s a gothic horror film. And I think there hasn’t been an old school gothic movie that’s actually scary in a while. And I think most audiences will find that to be the case.
The film is also the protagonist Emma Corrin (Deadpool 3), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kraven the Hunter), Simon McBurney (The evocation 2) AND Ralph Ineson (The witch).
The film will be released in theaters on December 25, 2024.
