Christopher Nolan he threw Anne Hathaway AND Zendaya to star in his next big event film at Universal Pictures. They will join those previously announced Matt Damon AND Tom Holland.
It was initially reported that the film would be a vampire horror film set in the 1920s, but this recent report states that all “loglines or descriptions of the film that have been published to date are wrong.”
It was also previously noted that “the setting is not the present (although it is unclear whether it is set in the past or the future)”.
Nolan previously talked about wanting to make a horror film: “I would love to make a horror film. But I think a really good horror movie requires a really great idea. And those are few and far between. So I haven’t found a story that lends itself to that.”
Nolan went on to talk about what he finds interesting about the horror genre, saying, “But I think it’s a very interesting genre from a cinematic point of view.
“It’s also one of the few genres where studios make a lot of these films, and they’re films that have a lot of bleakness and a lot of abstraction. They have many of the qualities that Hollywood is generally very reluctant to put into films, but this is a genre where it’s allowed.”
I hope the project ends up becoming a horror film project, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
The film will be released in theaters on July 17, 2026.
