Eddie Murphy is returning to collaborate with the director Bill Condonto star in a new biopic in which he will play the Parliament-Funkadelic leader George Clinton for Amazon MGM Studios.
The script is currently being written by Virgil Williamsfrom an original draft of Max Werner. The project was started by Catherine Davislongtime fan of George Clinton, who brought the idea to Murphy.
Condon and Murphy teamed up for the first time Dream girls (2006), which earned the actor an Oscar nomination and a Golden Globe win for Best Supporting Actor.
The film will be produced by Murphy via Eddie Murphy Productions, John Davis via Davis Entertainment, Davis and Greg Yolen. Charisse Hewitt-Webster of Eddie Murphy Productions, as well as Clinton, Archie Ivy and Jeff Jampol serve as executive producers.
Based on Clinton’s memoirs, Brothers, like George, isn’t this a little hard for you?the film is the untold story of the influential funk pioneer and his tumultuous journey to founding the musical collective Parliament-Funkadelic.
Known for their whimsical sci-fi themes, surreal sounds and psychedelic shows, Clinton and his band’s wild road redefined music and culture.
Meanwhile, Murphy will be Amazon’s next leading man The retreat with Keke Palmer AND Pete Davidson.
