Sasha Calle she was cast as Supergirl The Flash and there were big plans for his future in the DCEU. He has signed on for several films and there have been several conversations about his future in the franchise.
But, in the end, after James Gunn AND Pietro Safran took control of DC Studios to reboot the DCU, those future plans for Supergirl were flushed down the toilet. I like Calle in the role, and it sucks that things turned out the way they did for her.
During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Calle spoke about losing the role saying, “I was so deeply in love with that role. I had a conversation about its future many times. When I signed on, it was for a multi-picture deal.
“It’s a common thing when you get into a franchise. So it was very heartbreaking for me and it was very confusing. In the end, I know I did my best, and wherever it ended up, it wasn’t…”
Despite the pain of losing the role, Calle still loved the experience she had and said: “I consider it something super beautiful. It was said that a queer Latin girl like me couldn’t be Supergirl. But I was, and this nobody he can take it away from me.
“This is the most important thing for me; I did something that mattered. And whether you saw yourself represented in me or not, a lot of people really connected with her and loved her.”
In Gunn’s new DCU, Supergirl will be played by House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock. He will most likely make his debut in next year’s Superman film.
What do you think of Calle’s version of Supergirl?
