Robert Downey Jr. he is not a fan of AI and is making it very clear that he will not allow anyone in Hollywood to replicate his likeness using AI and intends to sue anyone who attempts to create an AI version of himself, even after his death.
Downey recently said on an episode of On With Kara Swisher, “There are two tracks. How do I feel about everything that’s going on?
“I think so minimally because I have a real emotional life going on and it doesn’t have a lot of room for that. I don’t envy anyone who has been overly identified with the advent of this new phase of the information age.”
When the conversation turned to artificial intelligence and the possibility of an Iron Man reboot that replicated his Tony Stark using artificial intelligence, Downey said:
“I’m not worried about them hijacking my character’s soul. They would never do that to me, with or without me.”
When it comes to the future and all the other manufacturers trying to bring it back with artificial intelligence, Downey Jr. said, “I would like to state here that I intend to sue all future executives on specifics only.”
After pointing out that the actor will be dead, Downey said, “But my law practice will still be very active.”
So, we should never expect to see an AI version of Robert Downey Jr. and that’s okay. We don’t really need AI versions of famous actors running around in movies.
