Peter Cushing will be resurrected thanks to artificial intelligence in the upcoming documentary HAMMER: HEROES, LEGENDS AND MONSTERS

Peter Cushing will be resurrected for a new project thanks to artificial intelligence. AI version of iconic Frankenstein and Dracula star will appear in documentary, Hammer: heroes, legends and monsters.

The Hammer film comes from Sky, which says fans will be treated to a “powerful and moving revelation of Hammer’s royalty”, with what it describes as a “special tribute” to Cushing.

As many of you know, Cushing, who passed away in 1994, played Dr. Van Helsing in five Dracula films and Baron Frankenstein in six films of that series.

This news was shared by documentary producer Deep Fusion Films during a “world premiere” podcast hosted by a rerun of late talk show host Michael Parkinson.

The documentary will be narrated by Carlo Danzaand will be released to celebrate Hammer Films’ 90th birthday. The documentary will “follow his progression from a back office in London’s Regent Street to his iconic status in the horror film genre.”

It will reveal “how Hammer’s distinctive visual style and storytelling continue to shape modern horror and inspire filmmakers around the world.”

Ben Field, who runs Deep Fusion, said the resurrection of the Hammer document had obtained all the necessary permissions. He said the decision to resurrect Cushing is “tied to its significance for the Hammer’s legacy.”

“As a central figure to Hammer’s success, Cushing’s presence is vital to telling the story authentically. His work, especially alongside Christopher Leehe was instrumental in shaping the brand and legacy of Hammer Films.

“Including it allows the project to honor the spirit and impact he had on the studio and its fans, creating a connection between the past and this new exploration.”

Field went on to add that Cushing’s return for the documentary was approached with “great care” and that “the team’s intent is not to manipulate or sensationalize but to use technology as a tool to bring audiences closer to the Hammer story Films in an engaging and reverent way.”

Cushing was previously resurrected for 2016 Rogue One: A Star Wars Story for Grand Moff Tarkin. This has caused some backlash and a legal battle in the high court over the use of the image was recently declared by a judge to go to trial.

Hammer: heroes, legends and monsters will also include other influential figures from the horror genre such as Christopher Lee.

Talent who was interviewed for the do include Tim Burton, Giovanni Carpenter, Joe Dante AND John Logan.

The documentary will have a limited run in cinemas and will launch on Sky Arts on Halloween.
